I just checked on my mac and The Sims 4 takes up a bit over 22GB in total. As the operating system takes up around 50GB (at least for me, ymmv), installing the Sims 4 would mean that around half your disk is full. SSDs do get slower if they're more than half full and the less space you have available, the faster the SSD is going to break.
