Hi all. I got my first garmin watch (Fenix 6 Sapphire) two weeks ago. I enjoyed watching the heart rate and learning more about how mine oscillates during the day, but beyond that I'm thinking of switching it off and using it only for activity and sleep tracking, which would save battery. My questions are:
Garmin offers two types of GPS capabilities for its watches and trackers. Unfortunately, not all Garmin watches or trackers offer GPS via a built-in sensor or Connected GPS. Built-in GPS. Garmin’s higher-end smartwatches offer built-in GPS, including the Fenix Series, Instinct Series, Venu Series, Forerunner Series, and Vivoactive Series.
I can't connect GPS anymore with my Fenix 3 since few months. If I start an activity with GPS, the GPS bar stays red and it doesn't connect to satellites. Before now, I connected GPS with saltellites in few seconds without any problem. - connected with PC, deleted folder Remotesw in Garmin, disconnected, connected again and synched with Garmin
It might be "the most basic battery saving option", but it's a setting that normally nobody with a Fenix would ever want to use. As mcalista said, the battery life is very, very long in the Fenix (especially the 6 and 6X models) with or without all-day HR measurements, so turning it off is not a choice that any normal user would ever make.
Intensity Minutes not calculating. I’ve only had f6x Pro since Christmas but usually walk 4 times per week and average around 250 intensity minutes per week. This week I have done a few hilly walks (same walks that usually generate data) however only one activity (today) generated data. So far I have 47 minutes complete and that was for today.
When i'm using this app, Heart rate monitor does not work. The monitoring logged during the activity stay very low and does not indiquate my real Heart rate. I was thinking that it was due to the cold temperature and the fact that we grip the poles as indicated on Garmin documentation but i think that it's an app issue :
I did a little digging. Make sure that the sensor hub is updated with 7.11 that allows the sleep data from the watch to work. I had to plug my watch into my computer and open Garmin Express and searched for updates. After the update all is well. Hope that this helps. You can tell the sensor hub - hold left middle button in until the menu appears.
Heart rate broadcast. I just buy a TACX Neo 2T and want to use my Fenix 6 Sapphire to broadcast the Heart Rate to the app (Zwift or TACX), but: - If I broadcast the HR it stuck at the first value the optical sensor read. - If I use virtual run to broadcast HR it doesn't display the heart rate (only - - is visible on the watch).
Garmin Fenix 6s anaerobic effect not working. I recently upgraded from Fenix 5s to fenix 6s. Since the move none of my runs or cross training sessions record anaerobic activity. My training effect always has aerobic but no anaerobic. I’ve seen an article saying it was resolved in an update but I’m on the latest update and yet nothing changes.
My Fenix 6S Pro does not get updated to the latest firmware using Garmin Connect. I got a new phone, but I re-paired with the new device and it is syncing my activities to Garmin Connect, so I guess there is communication between my watch and the app. "Software Update" is turned on my watch (System --> Software Update), but updates are not
I just ran with new 6X Pro on one wrist and Fenix 3 with external HR on another. Wrist-based HR on 6X was 3-5bpm less and slightly delayed, but otherwise was spot on. During workouts I prefer to wear external HR as there is too much wrist motion when working upper body so it is not fair to blame Garmin for inaccuracy this case as I see it.
