Brand new glow plug relay, still clicks constantly. I own a 7.3 idi and my glow plug relay keeps on clicking and after replacing/warrantying about 3 relays each one has clicked right after installation. -I am getting 10 volts through the glow plug connectors and on glow plug side of relay. -All positive posts are getting battery voltage.

Thats not a glow plug relay, that is the air intake heater relay. In last 30,000 has had new head and pump etc, etc. My question is about the complicated system of relays for the glow plugs. 5.1k. Name: Isetta. Ford Model: Fiesta Style 1.5tdci Econetic 2015 year. I reckon I saw the glowplug light come on only about 10 times each year and then only for a second or two. The glowplugs work even when the light is not on, the light just means starter issues. 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Question regarding wiring for glow plug relay - Hey folks, I have recently picked up a 2000 f250 7.3 and am currently checking over the glow plug system. Resistance on all glow plugs were in tolerance. Glow plug relay would not send power to glow plugs. My question is this. The best advice is to plug in for 30-45 minutes. Next best, cycle glow plugs 1 time by turning the ignition to the on position for 1 minute, then turn off ignition. Wait 10 seconds, turn the ignition to the on position for 15 to 20 seconds then crank it. Should start. If it tries to start but stalls, start the procedure over from the beginning. You can ground the signal wire using the test light and you can ground the "Ground Terminal" to activate the Relay. Keep in mind ONLY to use (-). The GPR is ground switched via the PCM. But, that in and of itself does not prove the relay to be functional under a load. The GP Cycle is dependent upon EOT and AIT.
A failed glow plug will not cause this fault unless it has gone short circuit. 1) F2 in the fuse box in the engine bay. This should be 5A and is in the glow plug monitoring circuit. 2) F4 in the fuse box in the engine bay. This is a maxi-fuse and will be about 60A. 3) R4 in the fuse box in the engine bay. This is the glow plug relay.
Step 8: Attach the power supply. Reattach the wires that supply the glow plugs with power. These should screw or clip into place in exactly the same way you removed them in step 4. Step 9: Replace the valve covers. Replace the valve covers or anything removed in the process of accessing the glow plugs.
